Hancock County resident Kyle Lamont launched the first season of her podcast, Concert Cast, in December 2019 to share with the world her deep dive into the culture of live music in New England and across the country. thinking about.
Season 1 is themed around places she knows well. In Maine, we cover music venues from Eureka Hall in Stockholm, Aroostook County to Portland’s State Her Theater.
Lamont, who grew up in the town of Sullivan and now lives in Ellsworth, said, “Everything starts with a place for me.” It takes a lot to run a venue.”
It was on no one’s mind to cram the venue to see the band with so many other people by the time Episode 7 comes out on March 16, 2020. And Lamont’s plans to go on tour in 2020 and talk to venues in other parts of the country have been put on a long hiatus due to the pandemic.
But by late 2020, she had veered to a new topic for season two of her podcast, instead dedicating the next seven episodes crop to exploring how venues have adapted to the pandemic. I was. The venue is her one of the hardest-hit types of business, and often closed for the longest time.
The first half of Season 2 debuted in January 2021 and showcased the National Independent Venue Association, of which Maine’s State Theater was a founding member, and a series of drive-in outdoor concerts at Farmington’s Narrow Gauge Cinema.
“Even though normal live music has been put on hold for so long, it’s been really fascinating to see how these different artists have adapted to the pandemic,” she said.
The second half of the podcast’s second season kicks off in December 2021, and now that venues across the country have fully reopened, Lamont is working on season three. We plan to focus on venues that cater to specific genres. She’s already been to places ranging from her Opry at the Grand Ole in Nashville to a venue in a cave in Tennessee.
Concert Cast was recently named a Spotify Featured Podcast. Lamont says he’s now working with a larger podcasting company to represent his show.
Lamont has many years of experience in multimedia production and marketing, directing short films and commercials for the likes of Subaru and Mitsubishi through his production company, Good To Go Studios, and producing video content for the travel and culture website Matador Network. I am producing.
But music remains her number one passion, as evidenced by a podcast she calls Labor of Love.
“I just want to be able to tell these stories,” she said.
Concert Casts are available on all major podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google.
